Volunteers
We are always seeking Undergraduate volunteers for various computational and experimental tasks in the laboratory. For those with computational skills, we are also looking for volunteers that work off site, anywhere in the world, as long as you have access to the computer. Our goal is that the work of volunteers lead to funded projects that transition to postions in the laboratory. Please inquire if you are interested. Some of the work can be performed from your home.
Job duties: Training and oversight of student programmers, assist with preparation of manuscripts and grant applications, and creation of software tools using Perl, JAVA and SQL relational databases.
Requirements: B.S. and Ph.D degree in bioinformatics, computer science or related field, or equivalent commercial experience, 1 year experience with MySQL. Programming in JAVA is desirable. Applicants must have at least one publication where they are first or last author. Familiarity with basic Molecular and Cellular Biology is required. Experience with Structural Biology and Biophysics is a plus.
Reports to: Principal Investigator
Salary: Commensurate with experience. Minimum starting salary of $37,000 / year. Nevada also has no state income tax and individuals working for UNLV are not required to pay social security tax. This is a ~15% cost of living boost over jobs in other states. Job comes with other benefits a well
